Education Level: any degree level, Masters or PhD students preferred

Developing deep learning models for predicting the effect of perturbations from large scale perturbation screens with high-content readouts

Intern Project Overview And Responsibilities

The Department of Cell and Tissue Genomics (CTG) and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML) are looking for a highly motivated Research Intern to improve algorithms for the analysis of large-scale perturbation screens.

The Intern’s Responsibilities Are

• Apply statistical reasoning to optimize machine learning loss functions
• Implement estimation procedures in Python.
• Benchmark novel algorithms on perturbation screen data.
• Present on the scientific findings.

Qualifications:

• Programming experience in Python required, familiarity with a deep learning framework such as pytorch or jax strongly suggested
• Solid background in Statistics and Probability Theory
• Basic knowledge of the concepts of high-content perturbation screens such as Perturb-Seq
• Basic knowledge on causal reasoning/Bayesian networks
• Experience with differential equation modeling preferred

Intern-eligible employees:

For Colorado-based applicants, the expected salary range for this position is [21/hr – 50/hr]. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for the benefits listed below.
