The RTI University Collaboration Office is seeking a prospect for the Legal Summer Internship within the Office of Corporate Counsel.

This internship is a contract position. The employment contract is administered by HR Directions, RTI’s supplemental staffing partner.

RTI’s Office of Corporate Counsel provides legal advice and counsel for RTI in all its operations, both domestically and internationally.

The Legal Summer Intern will assist RTI’s attorneys with legal research, special projects, and other tasks on a variety of topics, including one or more of the following depending on the intern’s expressed interests: employment matters, international matters, and regulatory matters. The summer internship could be for a half summer or a full summer, depending on the intern’s interests.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with members of RTI’s Office of Corporate Counsel.
  • Conduct legal research and draft memos on a variety of topics, including, employment, international, regulatory, government contracts and/or general corporate matters.
  • Work on special projects and other tasks that may be assigned from time to time in other areas of the law, including for example, government contracts, data privacy, or general corporate.
  • Attend meetings and presentations with relevant stakeholders as needed to better understand relevant issues

Additional Information

This paid internship will take place from May 2022 through September 2022. Start and end dates can be modified. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 25 hours per week. Internship location will be fully virtual or hybrid. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.

  • Current law student
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated skills in research and writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in one or more of the following areas of law: Employment, International, Contracts, and Regulatory
  • Interest in RTI’s mission to improve the human condition through scientific and technical solutions
  • Interest in serving as counsel for a non-profit research institute
