Senior Applied Scientist

Platform research organization within HLS has an opportunity for a Senior Applied Scientist in the speech recognition applied research team. In this position, you will work with a multi-disciplinary and highly

motivated team of applied scientists and engineers. The team develops speech recognition technology for the next generation HLS Speech-to-Text platform and solutions.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a passionate and highly motivated expert in speech recognition technology who will

• develop and improve production-ready HLS ASR technology
• apply state-of-the-art end-to-end ASR modelling techniques
• design and develop ASR systems for HLS platform and solutions
• understand, select and prepare data for ASR model training and testing
• implement tools for ASR model training and testing
• design and run ASR experiments to further improve HLS ASR technology
• collaborate with a team of highly skilled speech recognition experts, document, present and discuss your applied research results

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or physics or related field AND extensive experience in machine learning (applied) research (preferably speech recognition or natural language understanding)
• OR Doctorate in machine learning (preferably speech recognition or natural language processing) or in a field with intense machine learning application
• Previous experience with coding in Python
• Experience in working with machine learning backends (preferably PyTorch)
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

• This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

• Publication of scientific research papers
• Experience with the Azure ecosystem
• Experience with large-scale data processing
• Some experience and good understanding of C++

The salary for this role is starting from 75,400 euros per annum depending on experience
