Responsibilities & Qualifications Essential Functions

About this Position We’re excited that you’re considering an internship here at Texas Mutual. In this role, you will learn about workers’ compensation data, gain an understanding of our team’s Agile/Jira process, create data flows, complete validation tasks, and support our data model as we continue our data maturation journey in AWS/Snowflake. Intern for one of the best companies to work for in Texas, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Data Engineering. Located in the heart of Mueller, our office is surrounded by parks, restaurants, shopping and more.

  • Learn and use data prep/modeling tools (e.g. WhereScape, Alteryx)
  • Learn and use data validation tools (e.g. Validatar)
  • Create dataflows and integrate different data sources
  • Assist with data validation tasks
  • Learn insurance data concepts and gain an understanding of the workers’ compensation insurance industry
  • Complete tasks and projects as assigned, following instructions to meet deadlines
  • Participate in team meetings and trainings, as required
  • Gain an understanding of how data supports the strategic direction of an organization
  • Gain an understanding of how the team uses Agile and Jira to organize, prioritize, and plan projects and tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • Be a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree with an interest in insurance and data preparation and analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data preparation tools
  • Programming experience (Python)
  • SQL skills
