PURPOSE OF THE JOB

• Develop an understanding of the Actuarial profession, and the type of work they will perform through exposure to projects in all the areas of the Actuarial department.

Required Qualifications

• Required Work Experience
• College-level coursework related to actuarial science, mathematics, economics, statistics or related field
• Required Education
• High-School Diploma or GED in general field of study
• 2 years attendance at an accredited school pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Economics,

Actuarial Science or other related field

• GPA of 3.0 or higher

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

INTERN

• Performs job Functions under general supervision or peer review GROUP PRICING AND FORECASTING
• Participate in analysis of the overall competitive position in the group market, as well as our position in specific size segments or funding types
• Validate results generated from rating engine testing
• Contribute to ad-hoc projects related to monthly financial forecast

INDIVIDUAL PRICING AND FORECASTING

• Participate in analysis of our overall competitive position in the individual market, as well as by specific metal levels, geographies and network types
• Assist in developing and reviewing rate sheets for all individual products
• Assist in completing Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) bid desk review responses

FORECASTING AND RESERVING

• Participate in the development of outstanding claims reserve
• Assist in compiling and auditing Medical Loss Ratio (MLR) filing information
• Participate in ad-hoc projects related to our monthly financial forecast

• Basic skill in use of office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, scanners and telephones
• Basic proficiency in PC, database, presentation, and word processing software
• Basic proficiency in spreadsheet software

• Ability to understand problems and approach solutions using basic mathematical modeling.
