Some Of Your Main Responsibilities Will Be
- The intern will act as an extension of the project engineering team, traveling to multiple sites to assist with modifications and installations across the fleet.
- Supporting the operating business in modifications, procuring equipment, negotiating with subcontractors for installation, as well as verification of proper installation and handing over completed project to operations.
- Assisting management with executing planned work, using design plans, organizing documentation, revising plans and documentation.
- Responsible for last minute procurement of equipment, verification of shipped materials, logistics of materials arriving on site timely.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties that may be needed under the direction of management.
Must-haves
- Enrolled in a degree program with an engineering, marine or naval architecture curriculum.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Will utilize Navisworks for model review to verify design criteria. (No experience necessary.)
What An Average Day Looks Like
Ability to communicate effective verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both within the Construction Management group and with the shipyard QA and craft personnel. Ability to read drawings, schedules, test procedures and understand the requirements outlined in each of these and the ship specificaiton. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to function effectively with or as part of a team. Basic writing skills will be utilized to produce “bullets” of the tasks and progress noted during each week.
OTHER: Safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection and safety glasses will be daily mandatory necessity and must be observed. Job Safety Analysis performed weekly with all team members. All PPE will be provided with the exception of safety toed shoes.
