As part of the Transformers Business Unit, the Global Product Group Insulation and Components enables our partners to build superior transformers, supporting the energy transition. As Global Product Group Engineering Manager, you are accountable for the Engineering function and related processes and tools in the global business context, and to drive the required scale-up of the related competences to enable our growth strategy. Reporting to the Global Product Group Manager, you will translate market challenges into business opportunities, drive collaboration across geographies, with the wider organization and our partners, and drive the development of the Engineering capability and related processes and tools on a global scale.

Your Responsibilities

  • Display functional proficiency and leadership: Define and drive GPG Engineering strategy. Provide leadership, drive process enhancement and automation, and enable collaboration and learning across geographies. Where required, provide support at an operational level in important and critical issues and/or projects
  • Set Engineering and Platform direction: Responsible for creation and execution of global Engineering initiatives in alignment with GPG strategy, through HUB and local Engineering stakeholders. Supports development & definition of GPG’s global Engineering guidelines, Envelope of Confidence, platforms and drives productivity and competitiveness via state-of-the-art processes and tools
  • Process re-design, harmonization and continuous improvement: Conduct benchmarking across units, re-define and harmonize engineering processes for specific product lines, drive documentation, automation and continuous improvement to enhance competitiveness, execution quality and customer satisfaction
  • Support knowledge transfer and build networks: Support transfer of technology and knowledge from Engineering side, build cross-factory and cross-geography networks to enable exchange of experience, learnings and best practices, and extend Engineering community to include interactions with internal and external OEM customers
  • Drive people and competence development: Ensure workforce planning and people processes are in place to enable the appropriate organization, competence and skills to exist or be developed. Guide, motivate and coach team and individuals, both direct and indirect

Your background

  • University degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with more than 7 years of experience in Engineering, R&D/Technology or Project Management, in an international/global environment
  • Demonstrated track record in driving innovation, defining and managing engineering platforms tailored towards the different product lines, and establishing approaches such as process re-design, harmonization and automation
  • Ability to define or enhance competence frameworks, conduct competence analyses and drive capability development across different product lines and geographies
  • Ability to connect with and lead Engineering stakeholders and create strong global community
  • Result-oriented, self-driven business leader with strong analytical, reasoning, problem solving and organizational skills
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach combined with strong influencing and communication skills
  • Work experience with different countries and cultures
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time
