Summary Of The Position
This position will allow the selected candidate to gain an understanding of automation engineering and of the manufacturing process. The intern will work with engineers onsite in various automation-related projects. The intern will learn and/or expand GMP knowledge and learn the aspects of automation and process control. The intern will contribute to the engineering team by identifying areas of inefficiency and improvement. The intern will get hands-on experience with automation projects in both a Rockwell-based process control system and an Emerson DeltaV distributed control system.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Assist in controls and automation engineering projects to meet technical, budget, and schedule goals.
- Organize and perform life-cycle maintenance of automation and control systems, including administration, software backups, PMs, documentation (SOP/URS/FRS/SDDS)
- Assist in analysis, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of equipment promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Team member supporting Sr. Engineers with capital and improvement projects
- Work with other manufacturing support groups to implement and maintain automation systems, execute projects, and communicate the status to operations
Minimum Requirements
- Rising juniors or seniors (undergraduate), or master’s level candidates working towards a degree in Engineering.
- Able to work full time (40 hours/week) for an 8-week period.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools.
- Hands-on self-started; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively work as an individual contributor or as a member of a team.
- 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with GMP requirements
- Knowledge of programming, working with controls and/or process equipment is a plus
- Experience with computer hardware and understanding of operating systems, networking.
