Summer Internship

Interns will be responsible for providing their own transportation and housing for the summer. Interns are ineligible for employee benefits. Internships will be paid unless academic credits can be applied towards degree.

Project Summary

This is a unique opportunity for Undergraduate students to support the operations of the Translational Sciences and Quality organizations. The Translational Sciences department is comprised of the Pharmacology and Toxicology, Research and Bioanalytical Method Development teams and is responsible for the early-stage development of the Ultragenyx pipeline to develop treatments for rare and ultra-rare diseases. The Quality organization’s primary function is to ensure quality supply of our products to patients. To accomplish this, there are several touchpoints in place to ensure product integrity and efficacy, process accuracy and regulatory compliance. This is an opportunity that will provide insight to both upstream and downstream actions and processes in the pharmaceutical product lifecycle. The intern will be responsible for updating and maintaining departmental data sites to ensure access to the tools and materials necessary for their functions.

Responsibilities Including, But Not Limited To

  • Inventory and assess current department sponsored SharePoint site content
  • Meet with content owners to determine content updates and/or archival needs
  • Work with content owners to complete updates
  • Update SharePoint sites to Modern View
  • Develop, propose, and implement improvements to content organization within the SharePoint sites
  • Explore and propose options for using Workflow capabilities within SharePoint
  • Partner with reporting and metrics coordinators to optimize/enhance reporting visualizations

Technical Requirements & Skills

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study (eg, Business, Life Science, Computer Science/Information Technology), with minimum of first/Freshman year completed
  • Interested in learning more about the pharmaceutical product lifecycle, project management and opportunities within Life Science
  • SharePoint site development knowledge and expertise
  • Enrolled as a full-time student with plans to return to school in fall term
  • Available to work 40 hours/week during normal business hours
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexible; adapts work style to meet organization needs
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong ability to follow through with tasks
  • Good verbal communication skills; Ability to write clearly and effectively
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, reasoning, and problem solving
  • Capable of completing assigned responsibilities and keeping manager informed of work status
